Vero processes prompt content locally on your device before it leaves your browser.

This page describes how the Vero browser extension handles information. Vero is designed to process text locally in your browser, store limited extension data on your device, and send prompts directly to the AI service you choose. Vero does not collect your prompts or detected sensitive values on Vero-operated servers.

What Vero does

Vero scans text typed into supported AI web interfaces, detects sensitive values, and replaces them with placeholders before the prompt is sent to the destination AI service. This processing is intended to happen locally on your device.

Information processed locally

  • Text you type into supported AI websites may be processed locally on your device.
  • Detected sensitive values, such as contact data, financial identifiers, secrets, and certain named entities, may be processed locally on your device.
  • Temporary placeholder mappings may be stored locally on your device to support protected display and restoration.
  • Extension settings, such as whether protection is enabled and whether discreet display mode is active, may be stored locally in browser extension storage.
  • Vero does not collect this information on Vero-operated servers.

Where processing happens

  • Detection and placeholder generation run locally inside the browser extension.
  • Bundled semantic analysis models, when available, run locally as part of the extension package.
  • Vero does not route your prompts, detected sensitive values, or placeholder mappings through a Vero-operated server.

Local storage

  • Settings and other extension state may be stored in browser extension local storage on your device.
  • Temporary mapping data may also be stored locally for the active tab so protected values can be restored in rendered responses.
  • This local storage is used to provide the extension's functionality and is not transmitted to Vero servers by the extension.

Data sharing

  • Vero does not sell, transfer, or broker your prompt data or detected sensitive values.
  • When you submit a prompt, the anonymized prompt is sent directly from your browser to the AI site you are using.
  • If you disable protection, the raw prompt may be sent directly to that AI site instead.

Your controls

  • You can enable or disable protection from the extension popup.
  • You can uninstall the extension at any time.
  • You can contact support for privacy questions using the support page.
